Birdeye Expands Global Footprint with Cube Acquisition

The customer experience platform Birdeye appears to have put some of last year’s $60 million Series C funding round to work. The company said this week that it has acquired Cube Online, an Australian customer experience company. The deal terms were not revealed.

The deal does expand Birdeye’s global footprint. This acquisition brings Birdeye to more than 100,000 businesses and nearly 1,000 employees worldwide.

Founded in 2016, Cube Online is an Australian customer experience platform.  According to Birdyeye, Cube “Helps local brands and businesses be found online, generate reviews, monitor, and post on social media, and holistically view all customer touchpoints.”

The two companies are v well aligned, according to Cube’s co-founded. “Birdeye’s product innovation, customer obsession, and company culture make this a natural fit,” said Tony Van-Eyk, Co-Founder and CEO of Cube Online. “This is a great outcome for Cube customers, as they will access the best technology in the world and massively enhanced support infrastructure. We couldn’t be more excited to join the Birdeye family, and we look forward to the work ahead.”

Birdeye has recently seemed very focused on putting the Series C funding round, led by Accel-KKR, to work towards enhancing its product and scaling its business.

Earlier this week we reported that Birdeye had rolled out a new social media management solution. And last week the company rolled out Birdeye Appointments, which helps dentists digitize their customer experience.  Now, the Cube acquisition adds a global dimension to Birdeye’s ambitions.

The two recent product rollouts were consistent with the Series C goals. Namely, to broaden Birdeye’s appeal by broadening its product. At the time of the Series C round (March 2022) we wrote the following.

“Birdeye plans to use the funds to further build out its product. Its goal is to become a comprehensive platform for local businesses, based on the assumption that local businesses prefer a single platform to a loose collection of point solutions.”

Growing Globally

We asked Birdeye CEO Naveen Gupta for his views on the Cube Online acquisition and its global ambitions.

“I want to extend a warm welcome to the entire Cube team and the thousands of Cube customers. We’re excited to have you join the #1 digital customer experience platform,” Gupta told Localogy Insider.

“With this acquisition, we’ve expanded our international presence into Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. We’ve also grown to more than 100,000 customers and nearly 1,000 employees worldwide. I’m very optimistic about Birdeye’s future.”
