Data: 46% of Portland SMBs Not Ready for Smartphone Consumers

As we prepare to head to Portland on November 1 for our next LSA Bootcamp event, we wanted to explore the SMB market there. And much like the rest of the country, many SMBs in Portland are still behind when it comes to their mobile-readiness.

A 2015 Local Serach Association (LSA) consumer survey shows that the mobile internet is now the primary way consumers look for local business. Yet an online audit of 70,228 Portland small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) by BuzzBoard reveals that almost half (46.2%) don’t have a mobile-ready website.

This means these Portland-area businesses are at risk of losing sales when mobile users visit their websites and find a less than optimal experience. Research from Google shows that in such circumstances a majority of mobile consumers will simply move on to a competitor.

But in an increasingly complicated digital marketing landscape, SMBs face a range of challenges not limited to mobile-readiness.

For that reason, we developed the LSA Bootcamp event to help these businesses navigate the world of digital marketing. Following successful events in Los Angeles, Charlotte and Atlanta, the program is coming to the Embassy Suites Portland – Downtown on November 1. For more on the event visit www.LSABootcamp.com.

The data comes BuzzBoard’s “Mobile Readiness” tool which analyzes websites in markets across the country.
