In Q3 last year, the US daily average of time spent on mobile devices was greater than that of TV (Flurry Analytics). And with 92% of all mobile phones expected to be smartphones in 2017 (BIA/Kelsey), the shift to connected mobile devices is having a profound impact on digital advertising and marketing.
The chart above comes from last week’s webinar where Blair Symes from DialogTech explored how mobile devices are changing the way consumers utilize digital media. As a result of the shifts above, Blair explored a variety of new strategies around attribution and optimization that help drive conversions, revenue and ROI.
Blair explored the latest mobile statistics and outlined new ways marketers can drive more clicks, calls, and sales from Google, Bing, Facebook, Twitter and more. Here are some takeaways from the webinar:
- 64% of Americans own smartphones today with an expected 276 million smartphones in the U.S. by 2017
- In 2015, US mobile ad spending will increase 50% to $29 billion – 49% of all digital ad spending
- By 2019 mobile will account for 72% of digital ad spending – to $66 billion
- 76 billion calls from mobile last year, growing to 162 billion by 2019, an increase of 114% driven by growth in search, social advertising, and mobile apps and landing pages as people elect to call instead of click
- The higher the price point for a product/service, the more likely a consumer will call the business
- People are calling throughout the buyer journey, not just when they are ready to buy
