Base44’s Superagents Push the Rise of the AI “Agentic Employee”

Base44 Superagents Push the Rise of AI Agentic Employees

Base44 this week launched a set of AI agents that work proactively across a range of job functions for businesses. The Wix-owned company’s “Superagents” are designed to function as autonomous AI employees capable of handling complex workflows, signaling a broader movement toward what some are calling the agentic employee—software agents that can execute tasks, coordinate systems, and contribute directly to business operations.

These superagents can be customized for businesses of all sizes and dynamically applied to various roles, as needed. For example, if a business is launching a new SEO initiative, superagents can be trained to do things like add image alt-tags and page meta descriptions for an SMB’s website.

If the same company completes its SEO overhaul and then wants to clean up its expense categorization in its bookkeeping software, it can train and deploy a Superagent to do that too. In all these cases, the goal is to save time – especially for SMBs – and free up resources for higher-value work.

“Time is the most valuable resource,” Base44 Engineer Mendy Edri told Localogy Insider. “When you have a Superagent working alongside you, there’s less confusion, fewer context switches, and more time to focus on what you’re actually great at: running your business.”

Fractional Resource

One of the benefits of Superagents is their versatility. When hiring humans, the process is often bound to specific skillsets, job experience, or education levels. Agentic employees are meant to create a more dynamic and agile tool that can be a sort of shape-shifting fractional resource for specific needs as they arise.

Another benefit that Base44 underscores is that Superagents can be spun up in a no-code way. The idea is to create Superagents using prompts, just as you would create a generative AI image. Of course, the utility of a job function is more complex than imaginative jpegs, but the goal is to make them similar.

And like most forms of AI, these agents are meant to improve over time, as they’re fine-tuned through prompts that align with user preferences. For example, in a marketing context, a Superagent can be re-tuned to company updates such as a new tagline, or the approved verbiage around a new product.

“The software of the future will not be static code written once and left unchanged,” said Edri. “It will behave more like a living organism that adapts, learns, makes decisions, and continuously improves. That is the kind of power we believe should be accessible to everyone, especially small businesses.”

AI-Powered SMBs: A Conversation with Vendasta

Cautious Optimism

Back to the part about the growing trend around agentic employees, we’ve seen similar from the likes of Vendasta. This approach makes sense because it aligns with current enterprise systems that personify and conceptualize productivity in terms of job roles – from accounting to engineering.

Of course, all the above speaks to Superagents’ benefits on paper, and the information we were given. Before getting too high on its praises, a sizeable disclaimer is required. Superagents will have to perform in practice in ways that are truly effective and autonomous, without causing a net increase in work.

At AI’s early stages, the latter can sometimes happen. For example, in the emerging area of vibe coding, the outputs from automated programming are sometimes unfavorable. The work required to fix those errors requires advanced coding skills, or the need to start over… which is against the entire point.

We’re not saying that’s the case with Superagents, but some cautious optimism is always required with agentic AI. And these questions will be answered through Superagents’ deployment in the coming months. In other words, they’ll get the chance to prove themselves and live up to their promising claims.

Wix Expands Vibe Coding Surface Area to ChatGPT

Wix has announced that its vibe coding tool, Harmony, is now available as an app within ChatGPT. Previously available on Wix’s platform, the move to ChatGPT expands Harmony’s surface area and reduces its barriers to adoption. This is a fitting move for a tool that itself is all about lowering barriers.
