Bluehost Gets a Boost From Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Web hosting powerhouse Bluehost has announced that it has upleveled its platform by integrating Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Among other things, this will make the millions of WordPress websites hosted on its servers – many of which are SMB websites – faster and more performant.

As part of this move, Bluehost is also utilizing OCI’s capacity when it comes to AI and cloud capabilities. Specifically, it’s upgrading the capabilities of its products that support independent software vendors and managed services providers that build websites and apps on Bluehost.

Altogether, the list of functionality and capability upgrades for Bluehost customers includes:

  • High Performance and Efficiency: Ultra-low latency at lower cost and up to 30% reduction in cost-per-customer for equivalent performance.
  • Global Scale and Reach: OCI’s extensive regional footprint enables Bluehost to rapidly enter new markets, reducing costs and improving proximity for over 5 million customers across 10+ countries
  • Secure and Compliant: Embedded data protection and privacy standards, including PCI and GDPR.
  • Reliable and Scalable Infrastructure: 99.99% uptime and enterprise–grade scalability to support growing businesses and modern cloud-native applications

“With Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, we’re delivering the kind of speed, reliability, security, and support once only available to the world’s largest enterprises—now accessible to SMBs, creators, and developers everywhere, at the right level of simplicity and price,” Bluehost Group CEO Sachin Puri told Localogy.

Future Proofing

In the work it’s done so far to integrate OCI, Bluehost has already clocked 4-5x improvements in median response times for websites and apps. Given Bluehost’s focus on SMBs, this essentially means that it’s bringing enterprise-level performance down market to SMBs – a smart democratization play.

It’s also a future-proofing play for Bluehost. Upgrading its infrastructure for better performance comes at a time when compute resources are critical to power increasing levels of processing-heavy tasks. We’re referring of course to the rapid integration of AI at all levels of marketing and operations, including SMBs.

Getting ahead of that trend is smart for Bluehost, as demand for compute resources will continue to escalate. Upgrading its infrastructure at this time will prevent the company from having to play catch up, or suddenly be in a situation where deficient compute resources put it at a competitive disadvantage.

It’s unclear if the upgrade will represent service-fee increases for Bluehost users, or if it’s simply being implemented across the board without additional fees. Bluehost has already migrated about a million customers to the upgraded capabilities, with plans for the full rollout expected to be completed in 2026.

“For small businesses, every millisecond and every dollar matters,” said Puri. “This is about leveling the digital playing field, and we’re only getting started.”
