In E52 of Localogy’s This Week in Local podcast, senior analysts Charles Laughlin and Mike Boland ring in the new year with riffs on issues they’ve been covering on Localogy Insider, from co-pilots to startup failure.

For Mike, it was Microsoft’s release of the artist formerly known as Bing Chat in app form – now called Co-Pilot. Will this approach further accelerate the already blazing-fast adoption of Chat GPT?

Charles’ first topic of the year was to tally up the grim 2023 startup failure toll – measured both in outright business failure and the dreaded yet admittedly less calamitous down round(money raised at reduced valuations). He describes this as the “butcher’s bill.” And in 2023, there was a lot of meat consumed.
