Web.com Doubles Down on AI

Are We Seeing a Backlash to Content Subscriptions?

Web.com today announced a new AI website builder meant to streamline the traditional process of constructing websites. This is targeted to SMBs who are not only time-starved but often tech-averse. The goal is to free them up to be the best dentist, roofer, chef, nail artist, or whatever they may be.

Known as AI Builder, the new system positions SMBs to answer three questions, the answers to which inform website design and structure. From there, they can sit back and watch their website get constructed end-to-end, with the option to manually edit or refine what the AI Builder produces.

“In the dynamic world of business, where time is of the essence, we understand that creating a website shouldn’t be a daunting task,” Newfold Digital president Ed Jay told Localogy Insider. “With our cutting-edge AI Builder, we’re not just launching a website; we’re ushering in a new era of simplicity.”

Web.com Integrates AI Where It Matters

Common Challenge

Going deeper into the details, Web.com says that AI Builder can do its thing in under a minute. And it offers related features such as an AI logo builder and site update functionality. The latter is accomplished through the new Website Refresh feature that offers reviewable AI-generated site variations on demand.

AI builder is also trained to work in a variety of industries including beauty and wellness, health & fitness, and business and finance. This is a key attribute for any product meant to scale in the broadly-defined SMB sector. Each of these verticals shares the common challenges of time-scarcity and tech-aversion.

“We’re turning the nuanced art of web design into a seamless, user-friendly process.” said Jay. “From generating the perfect domain name to crafting a unique logo and customizable content, Web.com’s suite of AI-powered tools empowers you to launch your website swiftly and effectively.”

The Most Valuable Currency

Stepping back, this move follows and builds on Web.com’s recent AI integrations that help SMBs find ideal domain names and write page copy. As we noted at the time, these foundational website functions are likely to be followed by AI infusions downstream including comprehensive website creation.

Now that Web.com has validated that projection, it demonstrates a commitment to AI. This of course follows a trend of every company in sight integrating AI, but it’s a more fitting match than many others we see. As we’ve examined, this will be an experimental process throughout the media landscape.

We say that Web.com’s AI integrations are fitting because they address real SMB pain points and offer them the most valuable currency of all: time. At a period when there’s hand-wringing over the pros and cons of AI’s rise, these are the types of automated business functions that squarely exemplify the pros.

“In business, it’s not just about delivering results,” said Jay. “It’s about delivering them with unmatched ease and innovation.”
