Scorpion and Thumbtack Uplevel Home Services

SMB-focused martech innovator Scorpion has announced a partnership with Thumbtack which will integrate the latter’s home services pro channel into the former’s lead optimization platform. Among other things, this brings Scorpion’s lead flow chops to Thumbtack’s massive base of home service pros.

The power of this deal lies in the strength of Scorpion’s tech, as well as the operative world above: “massive base.” As a home management platform, Thumbtack has gained ample traction among home services pros who use it for a variety of digital presence and promotion functions, such as reputation.

With this integration, Scorpion boosts its distribution through a top channel in a massive vertical. And Thumbtack uplevels its capabilities and the value proposition it can offer to its home services pros. Specifically, they now have access to a best-of-breed tool for generating and closing new business.

“By integrating Thumbtack’s advertising solutions into the Scorpion Platform, we’re bringing more quality and cost-effective lead channels to home services businesses”, Scorpion Chief Revenue Officer Jamie Adams told us, “and helping them quickly engage with those leads to convert them into new customers.”

L23: Where Private Equity Gets It Right

One Stop Shop

Going deeper on the particulars, Scorpion’s core competency is centralizing and optimizing leads from a variety of marketing channels, both organic and paid. It brings them together into a single inbox to ease the organizational burden for SMBs. This brings the one-stop-shop appeal that’s critical for many SMBs.

Combining this with Thumbtack means a few things. For one, SMBs can get help setting up and optimizing a Thumbtack profile within the Scorpion dashboard (again, one-stop-shop). New and existing Thumbtack pros can meanwhile get help boosting conversions from their Thumbtack-driven leads.

Additional outcomes include (verbatim from Scorpion):

  • Getting more leads and customers with a website that makes it easier for people to find them online, and schedule bookings directly from their website.
  • Winning customer loyalty through faster response times by using a single, centralized communication solution.
  • Getting better results from marketing investments with Scorpion’s Advertising and Ranking solutions, which leverage AI and Machine Learning models to improve the effectiveness of each pro’s digital marketing.

We’ll keep watching to see where this goes and if it hits the intended targets. Meanwhile, it’s formulated thoughtfully and we see several synergies and points of “whole is greater than the sum of its parts” value.

“This unique and innovative partnership we’ve developed with Thumbtack reinforces our mission to help our customers run their best business,” said Adams. “We are excited to see how this partnership helps our customers grow.”
