Web.com Integrates AI Where It Matters

Website host and web services company Web.com today becomes the latest company to integrate AI into its workflows. This includes an AI domain name generator and an AI writer for website copy. Both moves are meant to help SMBs in some of the most onerous parts of the website-building process.

Starting with AI-powered domain names, the idea is that AI can be used to help SMBs discover optimal and available domains. This works similarly to generative AI use cases like chatbots, utilizing text prompts (think: business name), to generate and suggest available domain names that align.

The AI writer is meanwhile all about helping SMBs who aren’t natural writers or marketers. It suggests website copy for a variety of purposes (think: About Us pages) using keyword prompts. The result is suggested copy that can be further customized, or serve as inspiration to get the creative juices flowing.

“Recognizing the hurdles faced by SMBs in establishing an online presence, we have dedicated ourselves to simplifying the website-building process, Newfold Digital (Web.com parent) president Ed Jay told Localogy Insider. “By combining our deep understanding of these challenges with our commitment to innovation, and integrating the power of AI, we have made advancements in tackling two of the most time-consuming aspects of getting a business online.”

Idea Driven

Going deeper on both moves, they’re meant to make SMBs more effective in their web presence. For example, finding a domain requires brain power to ideate names that are not only descriptive and succinct… but also available. AI empowers SMBs with computational horsepower to do the heavy lifting.

Notably, the domain generator isn’t keyword driven but rather idea-driven. In other words, it won’t just provide domain-name variations on prompted business names but can incorporate terms that are conceptually adjacent. This can open pathways and ideas SMBs may not have considered on their own.

Speaking of opening pathways, the AI writer can likewise be a starting point for ideation on website copy. And one of its strengths is its versatility. It can be tuned to generate copy for a variety of contexts and even languages. It currently speaks in 10 languages including English, Spanish, French, and Mandarin.

“With these AI features, entrepreneurs can choose the best domains for their business and create engaging content without being copywriting experts themselves,” said Jay. “It’s like having a dedicated creative director or copywriter at your disposal.”

Effective and Time Efficient

Both of these AI infusions are meant to make SMBs – a key constituent for Web.com – more effective and time-efficient. The latter is a particularly resonant success factor in the world of SMB Saas and marketing tools. And unlike most corporate marketers, writing copy isn’t their first language.

Another point to underscore about these AI features is how they’re directly integrated into existing workflows. To address the elephant in the room, there are AI tools out there that can help SMBs do things like generate copy. But the one-stop-shop integration in Web.com’s dashboard is a key factor.

In fact, this pairs well with the “effective and time-efficient” drivers noted above. SMBs will be more inclined to use a tool that’s integrated into a familiar environment. And that’s what Web.com has done here. For all these reasons, expect more AI-driven tools to integrate across its feature set.

“Our customers can anticipate experiencing further advancements as a result of our ongoing investment in this area,” added Jay.
