Mono & Cybot Partner for Small-Business Privacy Compliance

So we generally assume most major enterprises have the resources in place to stay complaints with privacy regulations. That is if they choose to do so.

This isn’t necessarily the case with small businesses. Data privacy, along with advances in technology, is one of those issues small business owners just struggle to stay ahead of. And, of course, we all know the consequences of getting it wrong. There are potentially heavy fines. Not to mention a potentially crippling loss of trust with their customers.

Cookiebot CMP and Mono Solutions have joined forces to help SMBs minimize the substantial risks associated with data privacy violations. This partnership will enable small and medium-sized businesses to become compliant with major data privacy laws, including the likes of Europe’s GDPR or California’s CCPA. And in doing so it will help them build a trusted brand for their end customers.

Few SMBs Compliant Today

The biggest privacy risk small businesses take, often unwittingly, is in using cookies in ways that aren’t compliant with major privacy regulations. Mono Solutions and Cybot (which operates Cookiebot) conducted joint research to measure the extent of the problem. What they found was pretty stunning. Only 27% of small business websites are fully compliant in their use of cookies. The same research found that 68% of cookies that require consent are being loaded before consent is granted.

As a website platform addressing the SMB market, Mono recognizes this. So in response, Mono has rolled out something called Cookie Consent, in partnership with Cookiebot. This tool is designed to help small businesses become privacy compliant in their use of third-party cookies.

So here is how it works. The tool essentially protects small businesses from themselves by automatically blocking website cookies. The platform then categorizes the cookies. And finally, it allows users to opt-in if they wish.

Cookiebot is a consent management platform operated by the Danish company Cybot. The platform helps website publishers ensure that their use of cookies and online tracking is compliant.

Future-Proofing SMBs

Mono’s head of product said the Cookie Consent tool is part of a program to create a “future-proof” small business website.

“Mono Cookie Consent is essential to our mission of offering a future-proof website builder. We saw a need from our partners to offer an automated and all-in-one cookie compliance solution to their SME customers. And we’ve made that a cornerstone in our platform,” said Alette Holmberg-Nielsen, Mono’s VP of Product.

“We partnered with Cookiebot CMP because they invented a cookie consent solution that is compliant now and in the future, as well as automated. All Mono partners offering websites for SMEs can now add an automated cookie consent solution to their catalog with little to no additional work. We are proud to be one of the first in our industry to offer a truly future-proof website builder for small businesses.”
