Yelp, MapQuest, Yext, ReachLocal and 37 Others Join LSA in 2014

2014 was a great year for our membership team as we brought on 41 new members from both well-known and up-and-coming companies in the “local” space. This is one of the largest influxes of new members we have seen in recent years, and I am particularly excited about the caliber and diversity of these organizations.

From improving the membership benefits structure, to bringing Greg Sterling on board and investing in better insights, this membership growth can be attributed to a variety of initiatives and efforts.  However, it is the team here at LSA that has executed on our strategy, driving meaningful growth and evolution.

As mentioned earlier, these new members span the “local” space. But what exactly does “local” mean?  Is it geomarketing? SMBs and/or national brands? Location-based targeting? Local search? Last mile advertising? Local media and marketing?

There still isn’t a term that is widely used to define this space. Put “local” before media, marketing, advertising, targeting, commerce, sales, etc., and we are looking at extremely diverse topics, all of which interest us here at LSA. Instead of working to define or redefine “local” we merely wish to represent its breadth with research, insights, thought leadership, consulting, events and more.

The point is, however you define the space, if your organization helps businesses big or small market to local consumers, then there is a place for you here at LSA.  We want to elevate the industry by celebrating innovation, facilitating partnerships and providing insights with the hopes that these efforts will help all of our members boost sales and grow revenue.

To simplify, LSA is in the business of local.  We’re realizing the promise of local marketing and commerce. Igniting interest in the business of local. Connecting buyers and sellers. Boosting member sales and revenues. Sustaining vibrant communities. And unleashing the power of local.
